The best time for gorilla trekking in Rwanda is during the dry seasons: June to September and December to February. However, the Volcanoes National Park is accessible year-round. The dry months offer easier trekking conditions, though the rain adds a mystical atmosphere to the forest. Gorilla permits cost USD 800 per person and should be booked months in advance.

Most visitors to Rwanda can obtain a visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport for USD 50 for a single entry or USD 80 for a 30-day multiple-entry visa. Citizens of select African countries enjoy visa-free entry. It's always best to check with your local Rwandan embassy or the Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration before travelling.
